Our Team
The Health Sciences Society is an AMS faculty society representing students in the Queen’s Bachelor of Health Sciences program. We aim to improve student experience and provide opportunities for professional development while upholding our core values of equity, fairness, and transparency. From orientation and career conferences to research workshops and mental health, over 50 HSS student volunteers spanning 6 commissions work throughout the year to develop a positive program culture. In operation since 2020, the HSS Council is responsible for managing societal affairs.

PRESIDENT
The President is the representative of the HSS and its vision, and is elected by the student body the year prior. They oversee the VPOPs and VPUA, Elected Representatives, Health Sciences Orientation (HEC), and Internal Affairs.

VICE PRESIDENT OF UNIVERSITY AFFAIRS
The VPUA oversees the I-EDIAA, Community, and Academic Affairs commissions. They also manage the 4P Project, Mental Health Committee and Formal Committee.

The Academic Affairs Commissioner is responsible for implementing, promoting, and organizing academic-related events with the Vice President of University Affairs and other student interest groups.

CLUBS COMISSIONER
The Clubs Commissioner is responsible for overseeing the long-term development of HSS club infrastructure and acting as a resource and support to HSS-ratified clubs.

The Clubs Deputy supports the daily activities of the Clubs Commission, aiding management of budgeting, operations, administration, discipline, and support for HSS ratified clubs.

COMMUNITY COMMISSIONER
The Community Commissioner is responsible for acting as a liaison between the HSS, the BHSc student body, and other community organizations on-campus.

FORMAL DEPUTY
The Formal Deputy is responsible for leading and coordinating planning, outreach, and resource allocation for the annual HSS Formal, collaborating with the Community Committee.

The Sustainability Deputy is responsible for exploring strategies to improve the sustainability of HSS activities, enacting sustainability policies or advising commissions with best practices.

The I-EDIAA Commissioner is responsible for ensuring that I-EDIAA values are upheld in the council and BHSc community at large, overseeing the I-EDIAA Internal and External Deputies.

MARKETING COMMISSIONER
The Marketing Commissioner is the head of marketing, social media communications, website management, content creation and content promotion for the HSS.

The Marketing Deputy supports the daily activities of the Marketing Commission, managing social media platforms, designing engaging content, and aiding the HSS’ long-term marketing strategy.

INTERNAL AFFAIRS INTERN
The Internal Affairs Commission Intern for the Health Sciences Society (HSS) supports the transparency and efficiency of HSS operations. The role is at the heart of Assembly proceedings, where attention to detail, strong communication, and professionalism are key.

Jasmine Dong
COMMUNITY INTERN
Responsible for organizing HSS events, coordinating logistics with the commissioner and deputy, and being in a front-facing role of the HSS community commission. The community intern will have an opportunity to provide new ideas to facilitate a stronger community network amongst Health Sciences student.

CLUBS INTERN
The First-Year Intern for the HSS Clubs Commission, will help support the oversight and organization of all HSS-ratified clubs. Typical tasks include assisting with communications to clubs, helping organize council related events across clubs (i.e., club fair), and support club ratification and renewal processes.

MARKETING INTERN
The Marketing Intern works with the Marketing Commission to design and create visually appealing content (e.g. videos, graphics, illustrations) for HSS social media platforms to increase student interaction and engagement.
